Our Other Project

There is a lot more going on here than quilting.  We decide to start remodeling.  We have redone the larger bedroom on the main floor of the house.  This used to be our bedroom when we build the house in 1981.  We added a split level addition back in 1989 that included 2 bedrooms and 11/2 bath upstairs and a HUGE family room below.  After the addition was complete, we moved upstairs to the biggest bedroom.

Here are some photos of the redo of the main floor bedroom.  This is the original paint in the closet from 1981.  It was Green Apple.  Wow, what was I thinking. Although the color being applied looks grey, it is Sage Green.

Jeff painted the shelves white.  My closet looks nice and pristine.

New carpet was installed.  I think one of the hardest things to do is pick out carpet and wall colors.  It seems I always go with one too light.  I am very pleased with my choice here.  This is the hallway during installation of the bedroom carpet.

I really like this, and the padding they put under it is fantastic.

I posted this before on Facebook, but here are the lined drapes I made.  They have the grommets on the top and this was my first attempt at anything like this.  I am so happy with the way they turned out.  The first panel took be about 3 hours, the second panel about an hour.

And here is the finished room!  We did put a new ceiling fan/light up too, but my photo was blurry.

At first I was not excited about moving our room because I really like our room upstairs.  I am now very happy to have moved down on the main floor.  This room is so cozy and inviting.  Thank You Jeff for all you do for me.  I love you!

We are now taking the smallest bedroom and turning it into a large bathroom.  There will be a separate shower, tub, new vanity, new flooring, lights and the likes.  I'll save that for another post.

  1. You have been busy! You forgot to take us over to the house and show us the new bedroom. Next time! It looks so nice and comfortable. Love the ornate headboard! Did you get the tissue covers finished?
